Green hydrogen production from hybrid renewable energy systems: a techno-economic analysis in Rural India

Summary. This study designs and evaluates a grid-connected solar-wind hybrid system for rural India that generates electricity and produces green hydrogen. The optimized system combines 25-kW solar panels, a 4-MW wind turbine, an electrolyzer, and storage components. The analysis shows the system achieves a levelized cost of hydrogen of $6.01/kg, breaks even in 10.26 years, and eliminates nearly 3.9 million kilograms of annual carbon emissions, demonstrating technical and economic feasibility for rural decarbonization.
