The impact of Internet infrastructure development on the urban entrepreneurship of rural migrants: evidence from the Broadband China policy
Summary. Internet infrastructure development significantly increases entrepreneurship among rural migrants in urban areas, according to analysis of China's Broadband China policy. The effect is strongest for opportunity-driven ventures, low-skilled workers, mid-western regions, and service industries. Internet access promotes entrepreneurship by improving information access, strengthening social networks, and increasing migrants' sense of belonging in cities.
