Approaching the rural – Uncovering rural context in entrepreneurship
Summary. This paper identifies three distinct approaches to understanding rural context in entrepreneurship research: treating rural as a given setting, viewing it as peripheral to urban areas, or emphasizing its unique characteristics as rurality. The authors examine how each approach shapes research focus and conceptualization, arguing that entrepreneurship scholars must apply rigorous and consistent methodology regardless of which approach they adopt.
